Dayton6th NIL Sports Cards
In 2023, I connected with Dayton 6th, the NIL collective for Dayton Athletics, to explore the idea of crafting sports cards for the Men’s basketball team. Being a passionate card collector myself, I recognized the resurgence of popularity in sports cards, transcending niche markets. I presented the concept to create these cards and collaborated with their team to strategize maximizing funding for the team through this initiative.
I meticulously sought out a paper supplier and printer, delving into the landscape of NIL sports cards offered by various companies. It became evident that my envisioned product surpassed the quality of what was available elsewhere. Our decision landed on offering mystery packs on their website, ensuring optimal value for each athlete while channeling 100% of the proceeds directly to the team.
The card design is distinctive, featuring the Dayton Athletics logo to elegantly frame each player. The color palette varies based on card rarity, creating a bespoke touch. The cards boast an "on-card" autograph, a coveted feature for collectors. Each player's pack contains 5-6 cards,compromized of 90 base cards and 80 autographed cards, with specific colored parallels introducing scarcity. Autographs come in Red (out of 45), Chapel Blue (1/25), Gold (1/10), and the rarest Black (1/1), aligning with industry giants like Panini and Topps.
To jumpstart marketing of the cards, I mocked up the cards in cases which are specific to the card collecting community to be posted on social media, as well as some short videos of the mockups showcasing each of the cards and their details.
These unique packs are now available on Dayton6th’s website, aiming to generate substantial NIL funds, with the goal of reaching tens of thousands of dollars for the team.
